How to deter intruders

Wow, the million dollar question. We would all love to know how to deter intruders. No one really wants to meet them or come home to a house where they have been already. So will home security actually deter them, or will it make no difference at all?

Home security systems

You can be clever with how to deter intruders. You do not need to invest in complicated house security and alarms. A small dummy alarm box on the wall may be enough for an opportunist to move on and try another property. However there are other ways you can compromise your home security.

Social media and house security

The opposite of how to deter intruders is how to attract them, and so people do seem to be almost inviting them in. Announcing to the whole world that you are going to Florida with the family for 2 weeks is not the best idea you will have ever had. People can get your address quite quickly and they can work out when the house will be free.

If you have listed all the large expensive items you received for Christmas or birthday, you may find the burglar planning their shopping list of stolen goods as we speak. Photos of you in your bedroom with a large plasma television in the background will also be appealing to burglars. Think about what information you are giving way and to how many people.

House security made simple

House security is about protecting and prevention. Protect your items by keeping them out of sight or security marked in case of theft. Do not leave your car keys visible on the hall table and within reach through the letter box. Prevent intruders having any opportunity by having house security all around the house.
